What a surprise!
ElevenReader Changes
I got a surprise when I went to upload one of my other pen name’s (Leenie Brown) books to ElevenReader a couple of weeks ago. The normal option to offer the book for free and get paid $1.10 per qualified listen (11 minutes) was gone.
In it’s place was the option to offer my book for free without any payment, sell it, or place it in the soon to be released subscription program where I can get paid $0.20 per hour listened to.
Wow. What a shift! And I didn’t know it was coming. Maybe I missed the communication about that -- it’s VERY possible.
So here’s what you might want to know:
Yes, I am still going to offer my books on ElevenReader.
This change is coming in February. The switch is supposed to take place on the 14th. That means if you want to listen to any of my stories for free (either Annilee or Leenie titles), you’ve got a couple of weeks to do so. After that, all books currently enrolled in the previous author payment scheme of $1.10 per qualified listen will roll over into the subscription.
Subscriptions are $11/month or $99/year.
They also have an option for authors to sell access to their books, and it looks like this might become available to me as an option to have my books both enrolled in the subscription and offered for sale. But, it won’t let me do that yet. (Yes, I tried. LOL I like options.)
Until February 13 or 14, I can still earn $1.10 per qualified listen.
You can find all my Hatfield Falls books (except the new release, I haven’t put it there yet. Hopefully, this week I’ll get it added there) on ElevenReader @ https://bit.ly/Annilee-11R (or scan the QR code in the graphic above)
For those who don’t know, ElevenReader is a digital reading app where I can upload my books and then readers can select a voice to have it read the book to them. (And I earn money from it as mentioned above.) These are not produced audiobooks. So there may be some oddities that wouldn’t be found in a produced book.
I do plan to create produced audiobooks eventually using ElevenLabs as I have been doing with my Leenie books. I have not decided if I will pick a voice from their library to use or clone my own. If I use one from their library, that voice has been placed there by the voice owner and the voice owner receives payment whenever their voice is used.
